Showstopper Dance Competition

Print Design
DIGM 2353

The objective for this project was to design a printed event system to communicate important information about a hypothetical event. The information needed to be displayed in the form of a poster, brochure, event badge, and announcement card. I was inspired by the Showstopper National Dance Competition and their upcoming competition in Columbus, Ohio. Using pieces of their existing branding and existing written information on their brand, the process was to assemble it accordingly for each form of printed media using my own proposed visual identity.

Process & Development

This project was approached with three notable requirements: relevant information for the respective print media, appropriate typographical hierarchies, and design consistency. The information for this event collected from the Showstopper Dance website were in the form of text documents. The challenge was to sort this information for relevance to the event system and then present it in a visually interesting way.

Final Product

The solution was to apply information necessary to the prompt (location, date, time, performance times, etc.) to multiple renditions of the desired outcome. Multiple sketches of what the eye-catching visual consistency would be were created and then analyzed. The final result was a visually interesting piece that maintained consistency.
